Procrastination Battle: Learning at home or in the Study Center (Library)?1. SnacksYou cannot concentrate at home because the yummy stuff in the fridge is just too tempting. Have a quick bowl of cornflakes and another 15 minutes are wasted. In the library, you do not have to inspect the contents of the fridge — your pack of crackers is within easy reach — right next to “Game of Thrones.” However, even this tiny snack can waste your precious time. After all, you have to be really careful not to disturb other students. 2. DrinksDrink a lot! You should make fresh tea every 20 minutes while at home! In the library, the urge to drink coffee increases every 10 minutes. But the porridge from the machine in front of the library is inedible. A 15-minute walk to the café around the corner makes a lot more sense. They also have soy milk and freshly imported beans from Tajikistan! 3. Learning ToolsThere are no distractions on your desk, your TV is turned off, and you have even temporarily disabled your Facebook profile. But what about printers and textbooks? Of course, you can feed on air and love but does that work with learning, too? So, back to the library: there are printers and even books there! However, you’re in for another unpleasant surprise! There is a long queue for the printer, just like the one in front of the employment office. And having one page photocopied costs as much as a cup of expensive coffee! Argh! These silly nerds who always have to start learning ten days before the exam! 4. Internet SpeedYour roommates usually spend their time visiting streaming portals and “naughty” sites. The important thing is that each of them saves a considerable amount of money every month! In the library, the Internet speed is 10x faster. It’s so fast that you can spend some time watching a Netflix movie before learning. 5. NoiseAt home, you can enjoy total peace. Well, before you go nuts and start singing Beyoncé songs. It’s “quiet” a different story in the library. (See what I did there?) How many times did you ask the guy sitting right in front of you to stop tapping their pen on the desk? 6. Social InteractionAt home, you start talking to yourself because you’ve got no living soul around you. Only the spider living above your closet is coming out of its crevice to keep you company. It’s much better in the library. The place is simply teeming with people who are eager to talk or create an ambient atmosphere of a less dystopian environment. 7. LunchYou’ve been studying the whole morning, and suddenly there comes a feeling of hunger. Of course, there’s nothing at all in the fridge except for smoked trout fillets on a celery bed garnished with melon wedges. They’ve been there since yesterday and taste horribly. And that means you’ll have to go grocery shopping asap. Maybe duck à l’orange today? After 3 hours of shopping, cooking, and eating, it’s crystal clear that now the entire kitchen has to be scrubbed. Of course, that won’t happen to you if you study in the library. However, when you realize you’re out of your favorite sandwiches, you have to get to your favorite Korean restaurant. And that’ll take you another 2.5 hours. 8. Progressive ProcrastinationYour room is a complete mess, and you have no time to clean it. Hell, you don’t even have time to get a haircut. There’s a cleaning lady in the library, so you won’t need to clean the place. But maybe it’s the high time to organize a little cleaning flash mob?! 9. Have BreaksYou must take a break after every page you’ve read or written. You’ll need power for other things, right? What can you do in such a situation? Bungee jumping, baking a pineapple cake, or teaching your cats to swim! In the library, you accidentally learn that the sports department is throwing a small barbecue party. Perfect! Such a break is always a nice thing. 10. Just Give it Up ...... and continue learning tomorrow or the day after tomorrow! In the meantime, reward yourself for your previous learning successes!
