5 Simple Tricks on How to Save Money if You’re a StudentIf you’re a student, you probably know how difficult it can be to survive with very little money. Therefore, I tried to come up with five simple tricks that can help you cut your monthly expenses and live a more enjoyable life. I have tested them myself and can guarantee that they really do work. So, How Can You Actually Succeed in This?Follow the steps below, and the whole process won’t take you more than 5-10 minutes. Please, note that some of these tips are temporary and will only work for a limited time, so make use of them while you can. One of the biggest savings you will make is by joining the largest trade union as a student member. 1. Use Student Discounts and OffersIf you are a student, buying books is most likely one of your largest expenses. Therefore, by getting a student membership in a trade union, you’ll pay much less. 2. Sell Your Used Course-Related BooksI recommend selling course-related books as soon as you’re done with them. Do not postpone this step because there may be newer editions, and your reference materials will be worthless. You can expect to get up to 60% of the original price. Just find out whether your school has a Facebook group and join it. That way, you stand a good chance of finding students who may be interested in your books. 3. Split RentWhether you are a student or an employee, one of your most significant investments is accommodation. Getting a friend to move in and splitting rent is an easy way to save a lot a month, provided, of course, you do not already share an apartment with somebody. If you own an apartment or a house, another option for you would be to review your calendar and use services like Airbnb to earn extra money when you are away or staying in another place. 4. FoodYour second-highest expense is food, and there are many ways how you can save money here. Try buying in bulk because this is usually much cheaper than purchasing individual items. Cooking food with your new roommate will also make things a lot more optimized in this respect. Free breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It may sound too good to be true, but if you live in a large city, there are certainly several “free-to-attend events” where you can get free meals. Just check them out on Facebook or event pages like Eventbrite. 5. Clothes and EntertainmentThe third biggest expense during your study period is more individual and based on your interests. Like the majority of students, you might go shopping for clothes on weekends. Buy secondhand. Whether you need a new autumn jacket or a masquerade outfit, you can find something nice at your local secondhand store. That way, you'll only help the environment but also save money that you can spend on something else (hobbies, eating out, etc.). Find free entertainment. It can be quite costly to entertain yourself by going to the cinema or attending concerts. Therefore, try finding free options or events that offer student-friendly prices. Also, you can get student cards and be eligible for additional discounts and great offers. ConclusionHopefully, these simple tricks will help you get a more enjoyable student life. By taking advantage of free offers, you can save hundreds of dollars and fit into your budget without having to search for two extra jobs. Good luck!
